Philosophie Founded over 420 years ago, Kungyokudo is Japan’s oldest incense store. Their long-established status allows them to take on new innovations while cherishing their traditions. The time-honored incense burner mark has been kept as the logo of Kungyokudo, testifying to their rich history and quality incense. We prominently displayed this mark on the shopping bags, wrapping paper and stickers that connect the store to their clientele, allowing the dignity of the brand to shine through. For the packaging of the incense, candles and long matches, we chose modern and elegant package designs exhibiting the innovative side of Kungyokudo. The colors for the incense are inspired by the seasons, while its texture recreates washi paper. Candles feature graduated colors that fade upwards like wafting aromas. Long matches and other modern wares from Kungyokudo go beyond traditional ‘Japanese style’, and have helped them establish a reputation both within Japan and overseas.
