Rafael Reina named Chief Creative Officer of Ogilvy México & Miami

Ogilvy today announced that Rafael Reina has been named Chief Creative Officer for Ogilvy México and Miami. In his new role, Rafael will be responsible for the creative product across both the Mexico City and Miami offices. He will also leverage the borderless creativity of Ogilvy’s global network to bring the best creative talent and capabilities to bear for the agency’s clients. Rafael will report to Verónica Hernández, CEO of Ogilvy México & Miami.

Liz Taylor, Ogilvy’s Global Chief Creative Officer, said: “Rafa is a brilliant thinker and thoughtful leader with a track record of producing innovative creative ideas at the intersection of culture and technology. While leading our team in Puerto Rico over the past several years he has not only had an impact on our clients’ businesses but also propelled the industry forward. We’re proud that he will be writing another chapter of his career with us at Ogilvy and know he will lead our Miami and Mexico offices into a new era of creative excellence".

Rafael Reina said: “I’m very excited to start a new chapter at Ogilvy as I join the teams at Ogilvy Mexico & Miami. I am not only in love with the creative capacity of the teams, but also with the opportunity to create campaigns that can transcend borders of all kinds. Creativity is not a department; it is a way of being. For me, Ogilvy’s Borderless Creativity is about the democratizing of talent and opportunity so people from any area can contribute – people who are hungry to learn, explore, and understand our clients’ businesses from different angles.”

Verónica Hernández, CEO of Ogilvy México & Miami, commented: "We are very excited that Rafa Reina is joining our team as we continue to invest in our creative offering in México and Miami. He brings an innovative, digital-first mindset that I know will lead to ideas that create unbelievable impact for our clients and society. I am excited to see the incredible work that Rafa and our talented teams in both markets will do together.”

This comes on the heels of Ogilvy ranking #1 on WARC’s Creative 100 as the most-awarded creative agency network in Latin America as well as globally. Rafael played a key role in that success having most recently served as CCO of Ogilvy’s office in Puerto Rico, De la Cruz. There he helped transform the agency with a focus on developing innovative, impactful ideas for clients at the intersection of creativity, data, and technology.

Over nearly two decades, Rafael has held roles at agencies including Publicis, Leo Burnett, and Proximity. Rafael’s fascination with technology and passion for creativity was evident early in his career having served as an Art Director for a videogame and software development agency. In the years since he has collaborated with major brands such as Burger King, Direct TV, Falabella, Coca-Cola, AB InBev, Scotiabank, Kia Motors, Visa, Avianca, DHL, Pepsi, Special Olympics, and the Red Cross, among others. His work has been honored at numerous award shows including Cannes Lions, New York Festival, Clio Awards, FIAP, London Festival, Effie, El Ojo de Iberoamérica, and Webby Awards. He won the first Grand Prix in Cannes for Colombia, his homeland.
