| Philosophie | Each year, thousands of people have to flee their homelands. Among them: Refugee scientists who are highly requested academically in their home countries. They could play an important role in European research – if it wasn’t for their ban to work or travel until full asylum is granted. Science4Refugees Research Buddies enables them to cross borders, without actually crossing them. They do this by bringing European and refugee researchers together in a digital way and pooling all steps of research on their smartphone – the one remaining tool many refugees have. Just upload CVs, fields of research and publication lists. An algorithm will then match possible research partners. With their devices, the scientists can now have subject-specific talks, connect via video chat or share documents. In brief: Make science together – even if they are thousands of miles apart. |
