Synopsis Nikos Georgópoulos is an award-winning art director based in London. He is the Head of Graphics at Pollard Thomas Edwards and an Associate Lecturer at London College of Communication, UAL.

Described by LCF’s Creative Director as ‘sensitive, considered and essentially poetic’, his practice is best known for creating ideas driven visual identities and advertising campaigns for creative clients. In 2020, he branded Greece’s first coliving brand, Ilior, as a fictional nation and in 2019 he created the fictitious visual identity programme of Xenia Hotels.

Nikos studied Graphic Design and Visual Communication at Vakalo (BA Hons, MA) in Athens, and at Camberwell College of Arts (MA) in London, where he conducted practice-based research exploring the relation between Identity and Archives. He has previously worked as a graphic designer for Frieze Art Fair, London College of Fashion, Fashion Space Gallery and the Architects’ Journal and has been a member of the Art Directors Club in New York since 2017. Nikos rose into prominence back in 2018 when his office announced that the designer is working on a trilogy of concept projects entitled ‘Time travel branding’. The first chapter of the trilogy, ‘The fictitious visual identity programme of Xenia Hotels’, is a sci-fi art direction project within which, Nikos and his team travel back in time to create a cohesive yet fictitious visual identity for the once glorious, now abandoned Xenia hotels. The project was launched in June 2019 as a series of talks and presentations across Europe and the US and won enthusiastic reviews from the international mainstream media.
