Synopsis Angel Asenov is a 29-year-old resident of Sliven, Bulgaria. He is a member of the Roma minority, also referred to as gypsies. He lives in the Roma neighborhood in a small, 2-room house without running water with his mother and brother.
For the past 15 years, Angel has worked in a bike shop in the centerof Sliven tuning and repairing bikes.
Angel applied for a loan through Kiva so that he could start his own bike repair shop in his Roma neighborhood. A loan of $850 helped Angel Asenov invest in equipment and renovations.
Pereira & O'Dell worked with Kiva on a pro-bono basis to help Kiva tell Angel's story with this short web film.
Philosophie There are countless success stories for Kiva to tell. Our challange was to create a visual snapshot of individual success in an effort to reach out to even more passionate entrepreneurs who have big hearts and desire to help others succeed.
Problème Ideally, a Kiva lender will re-loan his or her money when it's repaid, creating a virtuous circle. Unfortunately, lenders haven't caught on to the second step in the process. Maybe they didn't know it was a loan. Maybe they thought it was a donation. Kiva's challenge was to prompt them in a storytelling fashion, the circle of Kiva lending.
Résultat Though only the beginning visual storytelling is the key to Kiva's remarkable social advocacy and online fundraising success. Web films embody what it means for an organization to embrace all things multimedia.
